Sacred Sounds from the Heart with Despi, Mary and Christie
This gathering invites us to step out of the ego mind, where we can connect ton some powerful vibrations and allow them to flow through us.
This is an invitation to a collective opening and surrendering into the space of the heart. The sound of Sanskrit, mantras and sacred songs can connect deeply with many of us and to the deepest parts of ourselves.
Singing/chanting, offers us a chance to bring awareness into the present, to practice deep listening and connect with sounds from the heart.
This is not a performance. There are no expectations.
This is a heart centred aspect of yoga where we can remember and reconnect to our truth. It offers us a way back to our hearts.

Nia Dance - A practice of embodied awareness with Jess Shrimpton
Nia is a holistic movement practice that blends dance, martial arts, and healing arts into a joyful, deeply embodied experience.
Rather than following strict choreography, Nia invites you to listen inward, to move from sensation, breath, emotion, and impulse. Each class becomes a moving meditation, supporting presence, creativity, and connection between body, mind, and spirit.
Through dynamic yet accessible movement, music, and guided awareness, participants are encouraged to explore how the body feels rather than how it looks. This cultivates greater self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and a sense of freedom within the body.
Nia supports strength, mobility, emotional expression, and energetic flow, while creating a safe, inclusive space for all bodies and levels of experience. Movements can be adapted to suit individual needs, allowing you to move at your own pace and honour your body’s wisdom.
Expect moments of play, grounding, flow, and stillness. A practice that mirrors life itself and invites you into deeper relationship with yourself.
No previous dance or movement experience required.

Documentary Screening - Out of Mined
EXCLUSIVE SCREENING of CANNES FESTIVAL AWARD WINNING DOCUMENTARY
BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL
OUT OF MINED
We are most excited to be screening this award winning and pertinent documentary ‘Out of Mined’, here exclusively, at Kaya Shala.
Out of Mined was brought to life through a close collaboration between Protect The West Coast (PTWC) and Eyeforce. PTWC, a grassroots NGO founded to defend South Africa’s fragile West Coast from destructive mining, has been instrumental in shaping the film’s vision and purpose.
Their deep community ties, environmental expertise, and on-the-ground activism provided the foundation for the story, ensuring that local voices, knowledge, and lived experiences are at the heart of the film.
Eyeforce joined forces with PTWC to translate this urgent fight into an emotional, cinematic experience. Through months of travel, interviews, and fieldwork, the partnership has merged storytelling and advocacy, creating a film that not only documents the crisis but helps drive awareness, dialogue, and change.
26 August | 18.30-8pm | Kāya Shala, Slow Roads, Salt Rock
From R200 per ticket (all proceeds go to Protect the West Coast)

Nourishing the Nurturers Half-day Retreat
Nourishing the Nurturers is a half-day retreat devoted to replenishment, connection, and gentle return to self.
Held on the eve of Mother’s Day, this gathering is an invitation for women in all phases of life—the maiden, the mother, and the crone—to come together in a shared space of care, reflection, and restoration. Whether you are actively nurturing others, longing to be held, or simply seeking a pause, this space honours the many ways we give and receive.
Guided by Nicky and Christie, the afternoon weaves together a rich tapestry of practices designed to soften the body and soothe the nervous system. Through sacral and hip-focused movement, breathwork, meditation, and a journey through the koshas, you’ll be gently guided inward. The experience is deepened with mantra, yoga nidra, and the subtle healing touch of Reiki, allowing for rest, integration, and renewal.
We close with tea and quiet connection, offering a moment to land and carry the nourishment forward.
This is a space to exhale.
To be held.
To remember that you, too, are worthy of the care you so often give.
